This week, our team had the opportunity to be a part of the latest PHARMECO consortium meeting in Graz, joining partners from across the network to exchange insights, align on project milestones, and shape the next steps of our collaborative work. We were joined by AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, CPI, Universiteit Gent, Merck Gruppe, Pfizer, RCPE – Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering GmbH, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Sanofi, Servier, UCB and Universität Graz. It was a valuable moment to share progress from the Microinnova side, discuss technical developments, and contribute to strategic planning within the group. Engaging directly with our consortium partners continues to highlight the strength of this collaboration, bringing together diverse expertise to drive innovation forward.

Microinnova’s role in the project centers on establishing pilot lines for key unit operations and pharmaceutical manufacturing, enabling the de-risking and validation of sustainable technologies at an increased scale. In addition, Microinnova is dedicated to developing manufacturing unit operations and pharmaceutical production equipment suited for clinically relevant throughputs, designed for smooth transfer into a GMP environment.

As part of this collaborative exchange, we also had the pleasure of welcoming several members of the PHARMECO team to Microinnova Engineering for a dedicated site tour and knowledge exchange session. The visit began with a warm welcome from our Strategic Director & Founder, Dirk Kirschneck, and continued with focused presentations and hands-on insights into our work. Our guests received an introduction to our approach to process development led by Franz Strauß, followed by a guided tour through our labs, offices, and workshop, where they could observe our technologies and workflows up close.

Thomas Nöst provided an in-depth look into our engineering capabilities and plant solutions, and the tour concluded with a session on our FlowKiloLab®, demonstrating how we scale flow chemistry technologies from idea to implementation. We wrapped up with a relaxed lunch and engaging discussions.

A big thank you to all participants for the productive discussions and collaborative atmosphere. We’re looking forward to the upcoming phases of the project and to continuing our joint efforts toward impactful results!
