On September 29, 2026, “MTP goes Industry” brought together operators, equipment manufacturers, engineering companies, and technology providers at the Merck headquarters in Darmstadt. The event focused on the practical implementation of the Module Type Package standard and its growing importance for flexible, scalable, and future-ready production, where Microinnova discussed its solutions with others.
The day opened with a keynote lecture, “on our journey from MANUfacturing to SMARTfacturing” by Michelangelo Canonceri, as the foundation for scalable, open automation, followed by a panel discussion addressing expectations, implementation challenges, and future requirements. Experts from the pharmaceutical, life-science, chemical, shipbuilding, recycling, and automation sectors contributed perspectives from both the operator and supplier sides.
Three interactive workshops translated the strategic discussion into practical guidance. Topics included the integration capabilities expected from future Process Equipment Assemblies, the early definition of modularization concepts and PEA designs, and the technologies, experience, and business value associated with implementing MTP-enabled equipment. As a specialist in modular process plants and MTP implementation, Microinnova contributed its practical experience in the engineering, integration, and operation of modular production systems, highlighting how standardized module interfaces can accelerate project execution and increase production flexibility. Guided tours of Merck laboratories provided additional insight into industrial applications.
The event underlined a clear message: MTP-enabled equipment is becoming increasingly important for procurement decisions and for achieving greater production flexibility, shorter time-to-market, and long-term investment security. For Microinnova, the event delivers a further push towards the increasing market demand for modular solutions and reinforced the importance of close cooperation between operators, module manufacturers, system integrators, and technology providers to turn the MTP standard into repeatable industrial practice.
